Self-portrait project from a Vis Class at UCSD. As I am not a huge fan of self-portrait, my general concept for this was to create multiple characters (I am admittedly a fan of Cindy Sherman’s character work) and refuse to reveal which, if any, relate to my actual self. I originally intended to play off of stereotypes, but feel that I didn’t push the costumes far enough to bring that idea through in this case. October 2008.

Kris, from the Gender Shoot. I just loved this portrait of her, because it brings out a beautiful vulnerability and sweetness that I don’t usually picture when thinking of this particularly strong friend of mine. <3 her, and her whole shoot. She really made the project. March 2010.
