Uganda, Africa, summer 2009. More of the blue skies, green trees, and red dirt of my favorite country. From the window of our van, crashing its way down Kampala road.
Fiona, 5 year old piece of heaven, my little bean. I’ll put up regular pictures of her and the other children sporadically, but this to start with. Part of a piece about identity, in which I created portraits from slices of other photos taken of the subject, intermixed with which are two slices of white, one labelled with the nickname given to them by our full cross-cultural family. There is intent in this. And she is wonderful and beautiful. Fall 2009.
Old children’s home, Uganda. This photo was actually taken by 6 year old Prosasco, but he was using Penny, so it still counts. For all that it is out of focus, completely underexposed, and aimed at nothing in particular, I really like this. And not just because it was taken by one of my children. July 2010.
